Local Food Holiday Gift Ideas 2010

1. A One-Week Share from a local CSA
Both Geraldson Community Farm in Bradenton and Gamble Creek Farm in Parrish are offering a "One Week Share." The gift certificate will entitle the recipient to attend one pickup and enjoy the bountiful harvest of that week. (pickups are Wednesday or Saturday) It is a great way to introduce someone to eating locally! (We will mail you a gift certificate to give to your loved one)
Price: $25

2. A CSA Share
Both farms are also offering full and half shares as gifts for this holiday season. One option is a half share that entitles the recipient to pick up a share of vegetables every other week at one of the farms from January until May. Or you can buy a certificate good for a full share that allows the reciever to pick up every week from the farm from January to May. Price for full share: $375 - 20 weeks

3. Membership to the Local Food Buying Club
The Local Food Buying Club provides its members access to meats, cheeses, dairy and juices from local Florida farms. A gift membership will allow your loved one to order from the club for an entire year! All products are grown organically or sustainably. It is hard to beat a pasture-raised chicken or grass-fed beef! (We will mail you a gift certificate to give to your loved one)

4. Farm To Table Cookbook-Featuring over 150 recipes from CSA members on cooking local vegetables! Cost: $15

 

5. Garden Box-Get a locally-fabricated, beautiful garden box made from scrap vinyl fencing. Will last for decades and produce lots of herbs and veggies with very little work. Proceeds directly benefit a local company, save waste fence, and raise funds for the barn-building at Geraldson Community Farm. Includes Grid- packed in a 12" x 12" x 3', easy to transport and it snaps together in minutes. It will need 9 cubic feet of soil mix. $181.05 ($170 plus 6.5% sales tax)

 

6. Base/Floor for Garden Boxes- This base is for patio and porch setting that would require a bottom. $74.55 ($70 plus 6.5% sales tax)

 

7. Lattice Frame for Garden Box- necessary for climbing vegetables like tomatos, poel beans and peas.$106.50 ($100 plus 6.5% sales tax)
